Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. It has population of over 52.57 million persons. It is a home to wildlife such as Elephants, Rhinos and Lions. The capital is Nairobi and it is world’s leading exporter of black tea and cut-flowers. Kenya has two official languages; English and Swahili, 42 tribes which are classified under three major tribes; the Bantu, Nilote and Cushite
Kenyan fashion are varieties of their traditional clothing. The dresses are called Masaiare, Masai, Kanga and more. There are also different designs of Ankara known as kitenge, sown into various styles.
Kenya accessories are mostly round in shape. They include; round-necklace, wrist-band, head-band, earrings etc. some are beaded while some are made from Ankara (Kitenge), gold and silver.
The Maasai
They are the Nilotic ethnic group inhabiting northern, central and southern kenya, they are the best known local population internationally due to their residence near the many game parks of African great lakes, and their distinctive customs and dresses. The maasai traditional dresses are mostly red in colour because they believe red colour scares wild animals. Their belief system is monotheistic. Their deity called Engai, has a dual nature, both benevolent and vengeful.
The Kikulu
They are the Bantu tribe located in the central Kenya. Traditionally, the Kikulu would wear a clothing called shukas, a piece of cloth done in red, reddish- brown or brown colour. This they would fling over their bodies and tie around the shoulder, the neck or over the shoulder. The Kikulu tribe believe in a god called Ngai.

Chapati – a soft and layered flat breads that are eaten in many East African homes
Pilau – It is rice cooked in a flavoured broth with meat, chicken or vegetables
Mandazi – African doughnut, cooked by frying dough
Stew – Kenyan food famous to eat with roasted nyama choma meat
Kachumbari – refreshing salad from finely chopped onions, chili pepper and tomatoes
Mukimo – a tasty staple food cooked mashing green peas, potatoes, maize, pumpkin or spinach
Ugali – a stew made with vegetables similar to kale
Nyama choma – roasted meat, usually served with kachumbari
Kuku paka – mouth- watering dish made up of chicken in a coconut curry
Biryani – cooked rice with saucy stew, meat and vegetable
Coconut rice – rice made with coconut extract, enjoyed with chicken or fish curry
Kenyan chicken curry – made from chicken and curry spices
Kenyan corn and beans – East African inspired meal amd easy to prepare
Kenyan irio – made from potatoes mashed with corn and green peas
The Kenya wildlife service is the Government of Kenya’s authority for wildlife conservation and management. Kenya wildlife service manages 8% of Kenya’s total landmass, including 27 national parks, 32 national reserves and 4 national sanctuaries, 4 marine national parks and 6 marine national reserves.
Climate change in Kenya has led to more frequent drought, made wildlife such as lions and elephants to wander further in search of water and food. Lions have then come into conflict with humans when they kill sheep and goats in the village near the national parks.
